Funeral appeal for Royal Marine veteran who died alone in hospital
A charity is appealing for people to attend the funeral of a Royal Marine veteran who died alone in the Queen Alexandra hospital.
The funeral is due to take place at Portchester Crematorium on Tuesday 24th August at 1pm.
Ian Campbell (Also known as John Harley) was 78 years old. He had served in Ireland, Burma, Saudi Arabia and Malaysia.
The Forgotten Veterans charity has worked with Portsmouth Council and the Royal Marines Association to find family and friends of Mr Campbell but his only realtives appear to live in Canada.
The RMA have paid for the funeral and now Forgotten Veterans say they want to give him the service he deserves, by ensuring he is not alone.
