Team GB's Maddie Hinch says she is 'super proud of the group' following a bronze medal win by the Women's hockey team at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Great Britain Hockey goalkeeper Maddie Hinch grew up in Sussex and now lives close to the GB Bisham Abbey training base near Marlow.

Her team clinched the bronze medal after a win over India 4-3 on Friday (6 August).

It is the third games in a row that the women's hockey team have secured a medal at the Olympics.

Maddie says the team had it in them to win a medal.

She said: "We knew we had that performance level that was required. Our opening game against Germany, despite losing, we played it brilliantly. And then it was like 'okay guys we're quite good, if we can compete with them, we can compete with anyone here'.

"The belief just grew through every game. And that is something that I learnt through Rio as well; the importance of that first 60 minutes.

"I'm just really proud of the group. Even if we had not got this far, I think we would've been really proud of what we've done here."
