Hundreds sign petition to make Reading Forbury Gardens memorial permanent

Hundreds of people have signed a petition calling for the bandstand at Forbury Gardens in Reading to be kept illuminated in memory of three men who were stabbed to death in an alleged terror attack.

James Furlong, David Wails and Joe Ritchie-Bennett died from stab wounds during the attack on June 20.

The Forbury Lion and bandstand were temporarily lit up by the council when the area reopened.

It was illuminated for two hours every evening for a fortnight from 9-11pm to show "remembrance and hope".

In a statement, the council told ITV News Meridian they will consider whether to make it a permanent memorial.
