M27 re-opens sixteen hours ahead of schedule
Many said it couldn't be done in the timescale - but Highways England have proved the doubters wrong- by some margin.
The M27 between junctions 3 and 4 at Romsey has now fully reopened in both directions.
The motorway was scheduled to reopen at 5am on Monday morning but has reopened 16 hours early.
It follows a weekend closure of the M27 to demolish the western half of the Romsey Road Bridge
The project team will now begin building the new bridge deck at the site compound near the M27. The next weekend closure, to install the new bridge deck, will be between 26 – 29 April 2019.
