Residents vote on community centre
People living in the Rose Hill area of Oxford have been voting on the future of their community centre this weekend. Everyone over the age of eleven was eligible to vote for one of two options.
The first option - a brand new centre with several services under one roof including the community centre itself, a social club, advice centre, sports pavilion and youth club on a new site; or the second option - to refurbish the existing community centre, leaving the pavilion and advice centre in their current locations. A regeneration project is underway for the area.
Oxford City Council will use the feedback when making their final decision in December. Labour Councillor Antonia Bance, who represents the Rose Hill & Iffley area, said the vote was showing local democracy in action.
