Blackwall Tunnel re-opens following travel chaos
The northbound Blackwall Tunnel has re-opened this morning after a 20 hour closure. Work to re-surface the road after a major fuel spillage has cost TfL around £150,000.
The closure of the northbound section of the major south-east London route caused a headache for commuters for most of yesterday with many facing huge delays and 10 miles of tailbacks. The problems were caused by a half-mile spillage of fuel and hydraulic fluid which made the road dangerous for drivers.
