Exhaust fumes from a generator, whose improvised exhaust and silencer system had become detached, had spread into the cabin where Kelly Webster, 36, and daughter Lauren Thornton were asleep.

Matthew Eteson, from Leyland, was on the boat with Kelly Webster and Lauren Thornton. He was taken to hospital for treatment after falling ill on and has now been released.

Investigations continue into Windermere boat deaths

A mother and daughter who died from suspected "gas poisoning" on a boat in the Lake District have been named as 36-year-old Kelly Webster and 10-year-old Lauren Thornton.

A man who was also on the boat was taken to hospital, but has been released in the last couple of hours.

Investigators are trying to establish if a faulty generator may have been responsible.
