School pay tribute to teenager killed and three others injured in crash in West Lancashire

A 17-year-old passenger who died after a car ploughed into a farm building has been described by one of his friend's as a "gorgeous soul".

Max was in the car along with three other teenagers, who were seriously injured, in the crash on Fir Tree Lane in Aughton, Lancashire on Wednesday 11 December.

Deyes High School in Maghull has since paid tribute following the incident. The school added it was also supporting pupils and families impacted.

In a statement, it said: "All members of the Deyes High School community are deeply saddened by the tragic news regarding our current and former students.

"We extend the sincere condolences of everyone here at our school and college to the families directly affected, and to the wider group of friends and family who have so many connections to them.

"We have already begun to work closely with students and families who need our support and understanding, and we will continue to do so in the coming days and beyond. Our thoughts are with everyone at this difficult time."

One of the messages reads: 'Rest in peace Max. Can't believe you're gone. Thank you for always bringing a smile to wherever you went. Will forever miss you. Love you always.'

Another said: 'To Max, can't believe I am writing this. You were the kindest soul and will be missed.' There was a large emergency services presence in the area following the crash and the road was closed for several hours."

Online friends have also left tributes. One wrote: "RIP Max, such a gorgeous soul" and another wrote: "R.I.P Max we’re never going to forget the many times you put smiles on all of our faces. Any room was always better with you in it."

Det Sgt Joseph Ghigi, of Lancashire Constabulary’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) said: “This collision has very sadly resulted in the death of one young man and left three others with serious injuries and my thoughts are with all of their loved ones at this time.

“I would appeal to anyone who may have either seen the collision or the car in the moments before the collision, or anyone who has any dashcam or mobile phone footage or CCTV to get in touch.”
