Man from Liverpool brought back to the UK after being arrested in the Netherlands

A man from Liverpool who was arrested in the Netherlands as he sat down to eat his Christmas dinner has been brought back to the UK.

Daniel Burdett, 28, was detained on a European Arrest Warrant at a restaurant in the Hague on Christmas Day last year, as part of a National Crime Agency investigation into the alleged importation of firearms.

An NCA spokesman said Burdett was brought back to the UK last week following extradition hearings in the Netherlands.

He appeared at Manchester Magistrates' Court on March 19 to face 10 charges of conspiracy to import firearms and conspiracy to supply class A and B drugs, the spokesman said.

He was remanded in custody until an appearance at Manchester Crown Court on March 26.
