GMP officers 'using paper to record data' after computer system problems

Greater Manchester Police says its computer system iOPS is being affected by an 'intermittent problem'.

The force says there was a planned upgrade to computer system, PoliceWorks, which identified some data inputting system errors.

In a statement, a spokesperson said a plan is in place to capture data, and part of this includes officers using paper to record data and that although this does create a slight delay, the risk is being managed.

Assistant Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Nick Bailey said the issue arose following a pre-planned upgrade and has resulted in reduced functionality but has not prevented access to iOPS or critical information.

He said it has not impacted the recording of calls from the public or response to those calls.
