Owen Haisley: Manchester DJ's deportation temporarily halted - say campaigners

Owen Haisley came to the UK in the late 1970s and was granted indefinite leave to remain when he was 11.

A musician from Manchester who has lived in the North West since he was four years old has had his deportation to Jamaica halted.

Owen Haisley came to the UK in the late 1970s and was granted indefinite leave to remain when he was 11.

He was due to be flown out to Jamaica today after serving a 12 month jail sentence for assault.

Among those calling for him to be allowed to stay was his ex-partner, the woman who he assaulted.

Owen Haisley is a father of three children.

The MP for Manchester Central raised Owen's case in Parliament on Tuesday, saying she has written to the government on behalf of Owen and

Lucy Powell (for Manchester City Centre) directly raised Owen’s case in Parliament on Tuesday, alongside "dozens of others due to be deported insimilar circumstances."
