Manchester musician due to be deported to Jamaica - despite the fact he's been here since he was four
A popular musician who has lived in the North West since he was four years old is facing deportation to Jamaica, where he was born.
Owen Haisley is a father of three. He came to the UK in the late 1970s and was granted the right to stay here.
However, after serving a 12-month jail sentence for domestic assault he is now due to leave the country tomorrow- declared by the Home Office as a 'foreign national offender'.
Today saw a last ditch judicial appeal and a plea not to inflict a second punishment on Owen from Tracey Udale, the former partner he attacked:
It is the first deportation charter flight to the Caribbean since the Windrush scandal first broke in 2017.
The Home Office says it has a right to deport people who abuse the UK's hospitality.
Manchester Central MP Lucy Powell is supporting Owen, and has called for an 'urgent delay on his deportation'.
