Cheshire parents appeal to government to fund drug
The new Health Secretary is being called on to intervene in the case of a couple from Cheshire whose two children need expensive drugs to help them cope with a life limiting neurological condition.
Ollie and Amelia Carroll from Poynton suffer from Batten disease, but the drugs they're on cost more than half a milllion pounds each and NHS bosses are still in talks with the maker to try to reduce the price.
Their parents say secretary of state Matt Hancock needs to urgently speed up the process because other children are dying while they wait for the treatment.

We asked NICE for a comment. They declined to offer us a spokesman on camera but issued us a statement in which they said they had asked NHS England the drug maker BioMartin Pharmaceuticals to have talks about allowing access to the treatment.
