Crews battle large factory fire near railway lines as 'explosions' heard in Kirkdale

People living in Kirkdale are being warned to keep their doors and windows shut after a large fire at a factory unit overnight.

Firefighters were called to Redfern Street, off Stanley Road, just after midnight.

Four crews are still on the scene.

Residents reported hearing loud bangs in the area, close to the railway line.

Rail services in the area were affected but are now returning to normal:

Bankhall Street is also closed between Derby Road and Stanley Road.
