The area around Kings Dock in Liverpool is cordoned off and road closures are in place, the public are asked to keep away from the area until further notice.

No one has been seriously injured in the incident and surrounding buildings were evacuated as a precaution.

Initial investigations indicate that an accidental fire within a vehicle caused other cars to ignite. Merseyside Police and Fire believe that all vehicles parked in the car park have been destroyed and advise owners to contact their insurance companies.

Public Health England say if you see smoke from the Liverpool Echo Arena car park fire then stay indoors, close all your windows and doors and if you have difficulty breathing seek medical assistance.

If you or someone you know has any underlying lung condition or asthma or a long-term problem with breathing then stay indoors and if your condition gets worse seek medical help.

Anyone who has been affected by the fire at Liverpool Echo Arena and are unable to get home or need temporary shelter, Liverpool City Council has opened a Reception Centre at Lifestyles, Park Road, Steble Street, L8 6QH.
