Tate Liverpool celebrates 30th anniversary

A special exhibition will go on show at Tate Liverpool next year to celebrate the Albert Dock gallery's 30th anniversary.

The exhibition will showcase the work of 30 artists from the Tate collection which has been curated by Art Handling Manager Ken Simons ahead of his retirement. He's worked at the Liverpool gallery for 30 years and for Tate for 43 years.

'Ken's Show: Exploring the Unseen' will include some of his favourite works, many of which have previously been shown in the galleries.

Some of those include:

  • Light Red Over Black (1957) by Mark Rothko

  • Phillip King’s large sculpture Within (1978-9)

  • Snow Storm – Steam-Boat off a Harbour's Mouth (1842) by J.M.W. Turner

  • Hollow Form with White by Barbara Hepworth (1965)

  • The Tree A (c.1913) by Piet Mondrian

  • Angel (1997) by Mark Wallinger
