By-election for new Jersey Senator
A by-election is being held to find a new Jersey Senator.
It's after Dr Zoe Cameron resigned, saying she struggled to 'make an impact in modern day Jersey'.
11 islanders are standing for the position.

Nearly 300 people vote for Senator at Town Hall
Nearly 300 islanders cast their vote for Senator at Jersey's Town Hall before 2pm.
Officials at the polling station said 298 people had been to the ballot box, while 133 made their choice by pre-poll voting.
There were also a number of votes cast via post and some were collected from people who were too sick to attend in person.
It means the total number of votes cast in St Helier no.1 district was 442 at 2pm.
Jersey's next Senator needs to be a 'people's person'
"A People's Person" is what many islanders have told ITV they are looking for in their next Senator.
More than 64,000 people are eligible to vote in Jersey's by-election on Wednesday.
For the past two weeks voters have had the chance to quiz candidates on their policies.
At the most recent Hustings meeting last Friday attendance was low, but emotions were running high.

Unions to quiz candidates at hustings
Candidates standing for Senator in Jersey will be quizzed by unions at a hustings this Friday.
The event is being organised by the Jersey Trades Council, who hope it will be an opportunity for trade unionists and "working people" to get their voices heard.
The following items will be on the agenda:
- Zero hours contracts
- MTFP and its long term impact
- The future of Education in Jersey
- New taxes and charges
- Housing
- Health
The hustings will take place at 7pm at St Helier Parish Hall.

Senator hopefuls quizzed
Candidates battling to be Senator in Jersey will quizzed by voters for the first time this evening.
St Saviour Parish Hall will host the first of 12 hustings taking place around the island.
It is a chance for the 11 candidates to convince voters why they should win.
A by-election was called following the resignation of Dr Zoe Cameron last month.
Films of each of the hustings will be uploaded online the day after they take place.

11 candidates will launch campaigns in Jersey today ahead of next months Senatorial by-election.
Last night, just hours before the deadline, the President of the Honorary Police, Hugh Raymond and Ex-Deputy, John young were added to the list of nominations.
The final candidates are:
- Restaurateur, Alvin Aaron
- Political campaigner, Mike Dun
- Former politician and Journalist, Guy De Faye
- Former Senator, Sarah Ferguson
- Former Deputy, Nick Le Cornu
- Entertainer, Stevie Ocean
- Equality campaigner and lawyer, Christian May
- Current Deputy, Sam Mezec
- Businesswoman, Mary O'Keeffe Burgher
- President of the Honorary Police and Sports Council Chairman, Hugh Raymond
- Ex-Deputy and former Head of the Environment Department, John Young
A series of hustings will now take place across the island, which voters are encouraged to attend.
The position became available after Zoe Cameron resigned last month.
The election will take place on September 7th.

The announcement was made at a nominations meeting at the Town Hall earlier this evening.
A by-election was called following the resignation of Dr Zoe Cameron last month.
Over the next few weeks there will be a series of hustings and campaigning across the island, before election day on Wednesday 7th September.

Your chance to stand for Senator
Today is the last chance for people to put themselves forward to run for Senator in Jersey.
So far nine candidates have thrown their hat in the ring, after Zoe Cameron resigned last month.
A Nomination Meeting takes place tonight in St Helier Town Hall at 7:30pm, which is when applications close for candidates.
