Parts of Rouge Bouillon will remain closed while investigations continue into the stability of "severely cracked" walls and buildings following a burst water main near La Pouquelaye last month.

The closure is between Clarendon Road and Palmyra Road and diversions have been put into place.

The Government of Jersey say further investigatory work is required to assess the full extent of the damage. This will also determine how long the closure will remain in place for.

It adds that the decision to retain the current closures to the area were based on several factors:

  • Reversing Clarendon Road poses additional safety risks for residents and pedestrians.

  • Allowing right-turn access onto Clarendon Road from Val Plaisant could cause severe traffic congestion, particularly near the Gyratory.

  • Reversing Midvale Road would necessitate signal junction changes, creating confusion, complications, and further safety concerns.

The public is advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes to get to town if possible.

A further update will be provided in seven days.
