Rouge Bouillon in Jersey will remain closed until further notice following a burst water main near La Pouquelaye last month.

Residents have been vacated from the affected building, which is being closely monitored due to concerns about potential collapse caused by a sinkhole.

The Government of Jersey is working with property owners and their insurers to seek a resolution and to reopen the road as soon as it is safe.

On Wednesday 18 December, Jersey residents were asked to avoid an area due to an unstable building caused by a sinkhole.

At the time, Jersey Fire and Rescue Service said: "A burst water main has created a sinkhole underneath the road and significant cracks have appeared in the walls of the building that makes the corner of Clarendon Road, and Rouge Bouillon, at the bottom of La Pouquelaye.

Diversions will remain in place and Clarendon Road remains open southbound towards town.

Motorists are also recommended to allow extra time for their journey as delays are expected.

Parents are being reassured that school buildings have not been affected.

There will be an update on Thursday 9 January.
