Confusion as States of Alderney Chief Executive is no longer in post
The Chief Executive for the States of Alderney is no longer in his post.
ITV understands that Theo Leijser, who's served as the chief executive for around a year, was gone following a behind-closed-doors meeting of the Committee for Policy and Finance (P&F) on Monday 16 December.
It comes as the P&F Chair, Nigel Vooght, resigned on Sunday 15 December.
Mr Leijser, who was heading Alderney's Civil Service, was formally accepted by Government House on 30 October 2023.
However, his departure now means the island will be looking for its fifth chief executive in as many years.
ITV News has approached the States of Alderney's Communication Officer for comment.
However, they have also recently exited from their post.
Instead, the States refused to confirm or deny who now leads the island's Civil Service.
They stated on Thursday 19 December: "In response to media and public comment regarding the Chief Clerk the States of Alderney in its role as employer has the responsibility to protect the data of all of our employees.
"Hence matters between an employee and their employer are for those parties only, and we do not comment on specifics relating to them."
ITV News has asked the States' President William Tate - on Friday 20 December - who is currently the island's Chief Executive.
However, ITV was again told to ask the States directly.
