Man requires surgery after collision with car on zebra crossing near Jersey's bus station

A pedestrian has been hospitalised and needs surgery after a collision with a car on a zebra crossing in St Helier.

The incident happened at 1:46pm on Sunday 21 April near Jersey's main bus station, on the crossing between Liberation Square and Conway Street.

A white Mini Cooper car heading westbound collided with the man and he was taken by ambulance to the General Hospital's Accident and Emergency Department.

People were asked to avoid the area but it has now been reopened.

Police say the man will require some surgery for his injuries which are not thought to be life-threatening.
