Guernsey's Liberate hosts The Great ‘Camp Out’ Weekender
Liberate in Guernsey is hosting a weekend-long event to celebrate the island's LGBTQ+ community.
The weekend schedule is filled with activities, including yoga sessions, zumba, campfires, live music performances and camping.
The Great ‘Camp Out’ Weekender coincides with the end of International Pride Month and the 51st anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, which are seen as a watershed moment in the LGBTQ+ rights movement.
Guernsey is now in phase five of lockdown exit and The Great ‘Camp Out’ Weekender marks the start of new freedoms for the LGBTQ+ community in the island.
Liberate says that for some younger members of the community, lockdown has been "difficult".
The charity Liberate will be announcing the plans for Channel Islands Pride in September. Along with encouraging people to sign up for their big fundraiser ‘Mission 71’ which aims to raise awareness around the 71 countries where LGBTQ+ people are still criminalised.
