Health bosses: Closure of Jersey's specialist rehabilitation unit 'not compromising care'
Health bosses in Jersey are reassuring patients that the closure of the island's specialist rehabilitation unit is not compromising care.
It comes after a number of people, including those who have had strokes, have raised concerns to ITV Channel TV about the closure of the Samares Ward at Overdale.
The 23-bed facility closed in March and staff were redistributed, with patients now being seen at a six-bed inpatient rehabilitation area at the General Hospital instead.
It has left some concerned about the level of care they will receive.
But despite the changes, health professionals say it gives them the opportunity to support more people at home.
The government says it is a temporary measure while they deal with the coronavirus pandemic.
