Jersey's new parental leave system to start in June despite calls for delay
Jersey's new family friendly legislation will be brought in next month, despite calls for it to be delayed.
Last week the Social Security Minister announced her intention to bring the new laws into force from 28 June, which will give new parents the right to take 52 weeks’ leave, including six weeks’ paid leave.
On Friday 22 May Chamber of Commerce asked Deputy Judy Martin to pause the introduction of the new law by eight weeks, so that businesses could "rebuild systems and processes" and return to a recognisable workflow.

The Social Security Minister then said she would “consider” delaying the change until the start of September.
Today it was announced in the States that the delay would not happen.
