Guernsey's Health President urges islanders to remain patient

Guernsey’s President for Health and Social Care is urging islanders to remain patient and trust the government's exit strategy.

The island released its planned phasing out of lockdown on Tuesday, and some islanders were disappointed to find that restrictions will be in place for most of the summer.

Deputy Heidi Soulsby insists that it is the right approach, even if it will take time.

With no new cases for nearly a week, the States say the effectiveness of lockdown is apparent.

However, it also says if it had brought in measures sooner it could have done 'more damage'.

Deputy Soulsby has also praised the island for its togetherness during the crisis and believes the Bailiwick should be used as an example for other countries.
