Jersey Zoo reopens to Durrell members
Jersey Zoo has now reopened to Durrell members only.
The team say they were "devastated" when the zoo closed in March due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The zoo says it is doing everything it can to protect staff, visitors and animals - and provide a safe environment for everyone. Therefore visitors aged eight and above must wear face masks at all times and tickets should be booked in advance.
Since closing in March the zoo has kept islanders informed and entertained through its online virtual experience.
Staff are currently working to ensure a number of safety measures are met.
These include:
Limiting the number of visitors per day
All visitors must pre-book tickets online so numbers can be managed
Entry will be in half-hour slots throughout the day
All visitors and staff aged 8+ must wear face masks at all times
Protective screening will be installed at contact points
Card payments only, no cash will be accepted
Floor markings will demarcate 2m distances to manage queues
Hand sanitiser points around the zoo
Keeper Talks will not take place
Both cafés will offer takeaway options only
Many indoor animal areas will remain closed
Both the indoor and outdoor children’s play areas will remain closed
