Jersey Zoo name baby gorilla Amari

Jersey Zoo has named their new baby gorilla Amari meaning strength in Swahili.

Bahasha gave birth to Amari, a western lowland gorilla, on 15 November 2019.

An online vote was cast last month, when the sex of the baby was determined, to decide on a name for the little one.

More than 5,000 people voted for their favourite name from a list of four.

The other suggested names were Iniko (1,638 votes), Muhuri (1,113 votes), Kapuki (587 votes).

Jersey Zoo say they are "delighted" to introduce baby Amari.
