Eight Jersey care homes have positive coronavirus cases
Eight care homes in Jersey have one or more cases of coronavirus - with residents and staff known to be affected.
The government has today confirmed this information, but says it will not name the care homes affected "to protect the identity of those who live and work there".
The current system means that the first one to three residents showing symptoms are tested. If one or all of the tests return a positive result, all further cases within the care home are treated and cared for as Covid-19, and further testing will not be carried out.
As for workers, only those with symptoms are currently tested.
One carer who works in a home with confirmed cases of Covid-19 among residents and staff has told ITV News that PPE (personal protective equipment) is still an issue, despite government assurances that there is enough.
The government's Chief Executive, Charlie Parker, answered questions from the media about PPE at yesterday's media briefing. He says a new ordering system is being introduced to make sure everyone gets the equipment they need.
