Plans submitted to build Guernsey's new super school
Plans to build Guernsey's new 11 to 18 super school have now been submitted.
Politicians say work on Lisia School will start in the new year with the colleges ready from the start of the 2022 academic year.
The Committee for Education Sport and Culture is now inviting tenders to build it. It will involve substantial extensions to St Sampson's High School creating Victor Hugo College, as well as Les Beaucamps High School which will become de Saumarez College.
It comes after the States Assembly backed huge reforms to Guernsey's education system back in September.
If the planning application gets approved, a phased programme of work will begin next year, allowing pupils to study in the current school buildings while the new build gets underway.
The Education Committee was criticised on how it was communicating plans for the Two-School Model back in November.
However Deputy Fallaize says the Committee is now fully aware of engaging parents, teachers, students and local residents at a time of substantial change for education in the island.
