Official plans put forward to change Guernsey May 2020 bank holiday
Official plans have been put forward for the States of Guernsey to debate whether to make changes to the May 2020 bank holidays to give islanders a longer weekend.
As Liberation Day 2020 falls on a weekend, islanders will currently not have their normal bank holiday.
Under the plans to be debated:
Monday 4 May 2020 will no longer be a public holiday.
Friday 8 May 2020 will be a public holiday.
The decision follows a similar announcement in the UK last month and will be debated in the Assembly later this month.
