May Day bank holiday could be moved in 2020
The early May bank holiday could be moved from Monday 4th May to Friday 8th May in Guernsey.
As Liberation Day 2020 falls on a weekend, islanders will not have their normal bank holiday.
Guernsey's Economic Development Committee have suggested that the May Day bank holiday is moved to the Friday to give islanders a long Liberation weekend.
It follows consultation with businesses on how this might affect them.
The decision follows a similar announcement in the UK last week and will be debated in the Assembly soon.
