Les Quennevais Sports Centre has been chosen as the site for a newskatepark in Jersey.

The two other sites shortlisted were Les Jardins de la Mer and Coronation Park.

It will cost £800,000 to construct, while a business case has been put forward to provide £1.3 million over two years to build more skate friendly facilities in the island.

The skatepark at the harbour was closed temporarily over safety concerns, which left skateboarders in St Helier with nowhere to go in town.

The land is owned by the Ports of Jersey, who said at the time there had been an increasing number of incidents, including concrete blocks being thrown into the marina.
