Guernsey's top politician has been charged £50 for having 'over-sized' cabin baggage.

Chief Minister, Deputy Gavin St Pier has tweeted saying 'thank goodness Aurigny back on route soon' after he was charged £50 by Flybe for his hand luggage bag.

He says the bag was allowed on Flybe flight from Guernsey to Jersey but not on his return.

Flybe have responded saying 'we have recently implemented a zero tolerance policy on any oversized cabin bags' and after reviewing feedback 'we found that our passengers were unhappy with the inconsistent cabin baggage enforcement checks'.

This comes after many people have complained about the charges Flybe issue at the gate when hand luggage does not fit their measurements.

Flybe says it will sort out any inconsistencies over the size of hand luggage, following a meeting with the Jersey Consumer Council and the Ports of Jersey.

There are allegations that a 12 year old girl had to pay £50 for her hand luggage in Jersey, but it was deemed the correct size on her return flight from Doncaster.
