St Sampson's and Les Beaucamps schools have been announced as the sites for the new 11-18 colleges in Guernsey.

The new two-school model was voted in by the States of Guernsey in January 2018.

The two States-run comprehensives have been confirmed today (25th October 2018) as St Sampson's and Les Beaucamps, with each having their own sixth forms.

The Education Committee says these sites were chosen for their close proximity to partner primary schools, and their capacity to continue operating through construction.

The two colleges, which will be operated as one school, should be fully operational by September 2023.

The Education Committee will outline their funding needs to the States mid-2019.

Their proposals will also include details of the development of the new integrated College of Further Education, Institute of Health and Social Care Studies and GTA University Centre at Les Ozouets and the redevelopment of La Mare de Carteret Primary School.

Students at Le Mare de Carteret School will move to the new Les Beaucamps college, when it's built.

From September 2021 all students entering Year 7 (current Year 4 and below) will do so at the St Sampson’s or Les Beaucamps sites and will not need to move during their remaining years in compulsory education.

It means that even during the transition period almost 90% of students will complete their compulsory education on the same site which they joined for Year 7.
