FAB electricity link granted licenses to lay cables underneath the Channel
A controversial electricity project set to run through Alderney has secured licenses to lay underwater cables.
The FAB link will connect British and French national electricity grids and could see an electricity interconnector on the island, running from Longis Beach to Corbletts.
The marine licenses were granted by States of Guernsey but the project doesn't yet have permission from the States of Alderney.
Those discussions are ongoing.
Why Alderney?
Alderney has been chosen to harvest the 1.4GW of tidal stream energy in the island's surrounding waters.
