Campaigners in Alderney will protest plans to run a power cable through the island today.

Islanders want to express their concerns over the controversial FAB link, which aims to run two 700 MW cables from France to Britain, via Alderney's east coast.

The plan would see an electricity interconnector run from Longis Beach to Corbletts.

The people behind the scheme have offered the States between £250,000 and £500,000 per year, if they agree to the plans.

The protest is due to take place at 6pm tonight at Mannez Quarry - the site where the proposed electrical converter station will be placed.
