'Alternative' education plans published
Alternative proposals for the future of secondary education in Guernsey have been published today.
In January States members will debate plans for the future structure for secondary and post-16 education, put forward by the Education Committee.
But four deputies are putting forward an 'alternative' plan.
Deputy Mark Dorey, Deputy Matt Fallaize, Deputy Richard Graham and Deputy Rhian Tooley want deputies to consider a two-school model instead.
They have released the plans today and will submit an amendment to Education's proposals at the States meeting in January.
The Alternative Model would see:
One 11 to 18 school operating across two sites which would offer sixth form studies.
The College of Further Education would continue offering vocational, professional and technical courses including apprentices.
It would be an objective of the College to integrate with the Institute of Health and Social Care Studies and the Guernsey Training Agency as soon as possible, with an ambition to form a partnership with a UK university to become University College Guernsey.
