Guernsey education reform: Final plans revealed
The Committee for Education, Sport & Culture in Guernsey has revealed final plans to reform the island's education system.
Proposals include an inclusive sixth form college.
This will offer all full-time courses for 16 to 19-year-olds including A levels, the International Baccalaureate and full-time vocational and technical courses.
The college will provide pathways for students with special educational needs and those who may need to retake exams.
The committee also recommends a further and higher education institute to provide learning opportunities for courses delivered in a work-place environment, with plans to form a Guernsey University College in the future.
The proposals also include building a new school next to the existing La Mare de Carteret High School to provide the education system with three all-ability 11-16 secondary schools.
These schools will have between five and eight forms of entry in each year with a minimum of 600 and a maximum of 1,000 pupils.
Guernsey's politicians are set to debate the plans by the end of the year.
