Hundreds protest to save L'Ancresse sea wall in Guernsey
Hundreds of islanders turned out to protest against the demolition of a bay wall in Guernsey at the weekend.
Military vehicles, a history group, the nearby golf club, local parishioners, as well as residents from across the island demonstrated peacefully on L'Ancresse beach on Sunday morning.
Last month, the States narrowly voted in favour of Environment and Infrastructure's proposals to tear down L'Ancresse wall and return it to a natural sand bank.
Built by the Germans during the Occupation, the future of the once anti-tank wall and the kiosk behind it, is now in the hands of the Planning Authority.
