Reaction from States members as Deputy Andrew Lewis faces vote of censure

Deputy Andrew Lewis delivers personal statement in the States Chambers Credit: The States of Jersey

As Deputy Andrew Lewis faces a vote of censure in Jersey's States Chamber this afternoon, ITV News has spoken to politicians ahead of the outcome.

In a personal statement made earlier, Deputy Andrew Lewis said he "emphatically denies" allegations he lied both to the Independent Jersey Care Inquiry and to the States Assembly.

The allegations against Deputy Lewis were made in the IJCI report, which was published in July.

Former States member Deputy Gerard Baudains was a colleague of Deputy Lewis when he was the Home Affairs Minister. He told ITV News that Deputy Lewis is the victim of a "witch hunt".

But Deputy Mike Higgins told us he will be supporting the vote of censure.

However, Deputy Susie Pinel, the Minister for Social Security, doesn't think the vote should have been brought.
