Jersey politicians continue talks in wake of care report

States Members also met yesterday

Jersey politicians will meet again later to continue discussions about the Independent Care Inquiry.

The three year probe found island authorities failed children in the care system, with abuse taking place over several decades.

States Members also met yesterday, with talks focusing on the government action that needs to be taken following the publication of the Inquiry report.

Yesterday the States of Jersey announced they will appoint a children's commissioner to ensure young people are being properly cared for in the island.

Chief Minister, Senator Ian Gorst, said he hopes recruitment for the role will start next week.
