Andy Hibbs: False allegations were made against me

Jersey's Coxswain has told ITV News false allegations were made against him, which led to his sacking in April.

Andy Hibbs appealed the decision and has today been told he will be reinstated and has been issued a full apology by the RNLI.

He told ITV News "I was stitched up good and proper...we were going to fight to the end...in my eyes there was only ever going to be one outcome."

He says a letter from the RNLI apologises for his dismissal and how he was treated in the following months.

Mr Hibbs thanked the public for their "astonishing" support, as well as his Advocate Heidi Heath and his crew who "stuck by me".

After Mr Hibbs was asked to step down, the entire St Helier lifeboat crew resigned.

There were also public protests in Jersey, and Senator Paul Routier promised an investigation into what has happened.
