Sarah Groves' alleged killer hospitalised during trial

A man accused of killing Guernsey woman Sarah Groves has reportedly been sent to hospital by a judge "for counselling".

Richard de Wit, from Denmark, has been on trial since 2013, shortly after Sarah was found dead on a houseboat in India.

The case has faced numerous delays, and de Wit had previously been found unfit for trial by Dutch psychiatric experts.

Sarah's father, Vic Groves, says de Wit is paranoid and "believes deeply that everyone is trying to poison him and his family".

As a result he has "effectively been on hunger strike", leading to a judge ordering him to hospital today.

Another hearing is scheduled for 21 June, which would have been Sarah's 29th Birthday.
