Jersey States to debate government reform
Jersey States will debate reforming the political system today, after ignoring a 2013 referendum where islanders favoured the move.
The change would see the number of States members reduced and six new large constituencies created.
Deputy Andrew Lewis has put forward the proposal and says people were "shocked" that their choice of the new system was overlooked three years ago.
His proposition reduces the number of politicians from 49 to 44, made up of 12 Parish Constables and 32 Senators.
Members are expected to vote on the idea at the Assembly today.
