Plans to press ahead with school closure 'deeply unsettling'
Guernsey's largest teachers' union has slammed the Education Committee for pressing ahead with plans to close a school, after they survived a vote of no confidence.
The NASUWT says the closure would lead to "significant upheaval" and would be "deeply unsettling" for pupils and teachers.
Several deputies attempted to oust the Committee on Wednesday, following controversy surrounding the 11 plus, but their motion failed.
It means plans to close the island's grammar school and merge it with the College of Further Education will proceed.
The teacher's union says the closure will be "deeply divisive" and is urging the Committee to consult with them about the changes.
