Politicians vote on sacking Education Committee

Guernsey politicians will vote on whether to sack the Education Committee today, over concerns they don't support the move away from the eleven plus.

The vote of no confidence was brought about by Deputy Emilie Yerby, who doesn't believe the committee can deliver an all inclusive system.

In November the new government voted to change education in Guernsey, getting rid of the Grammar School and selective exams.

But, three out of five deputies on the Education Committee didn't support that move.

Despite calls for them to quit, only Deputy Marc Leadbeater resigned.
