When are the Senator hustings?

Around 100 people turned out for the hustings at St Saviour Parish Hall yesterday

Eleven more hustings are set to take place around Jersey, in the run up the Senatorial election in September.

The first hustings took place in St Saviour Parish Hall last night.

All eleven candidates were there, to convince voters why they should be elected.

Issues that came up included concerns about cuts to public services, immigration and Brexit.

Here's a full list of the next hustings to take place:

  • 16th August - St. Clement Parish Hall

  • 17th August - St. Mary Parish Hall

  • 18th August - St. Lawrence Parish Hall

  • 22nd August - St. Martin Public Hall

  • 23rd August - St. Brelade Communicare

  • 24th August - Grouville Parish Hall

  • 25th August - St. John Parish Hall

  • 30th August - St. Ouen Parish Hall

  • 30th August - St. Peter Community Centre

  • 1st September - Trinity Parish Hall

  • 5th September - St Helier Methodist Centre

All meetings start at 7.30pm and last about two hours.

The election will take place on September 7th, after the resignation of former Senator Zoe Cameron last month.

  • Former Senator, Sarah Ferguson

  • Former Deputy, Nick Le Cornu

  • Entertainer, Stevie Ocean

  • Equality campaigner and lawyer, Christian May

  • Current Deputy, Sam Mezec

  • Businesswoman, Mary O'Keeffe Burgher

  • President of the Honorary Police and Sports Council Chairman, Hugh Raymond

  • Ex-Deputy and former Head of the Environment Department, John Young
