Anthony McMahon reaches major stage in life-changing surgery

A Guernsey boy undergoing life changing surgery to save his leg has reached a major stage in his treatment.

Anthony McMahon, who was born with abnormal hip joints and short legs, is receiving specialist surgery in Florida.

He has just finished treatment which has seen his left leg grow by 8 cm.

Today Anthony enters a new phase which will see the newly grown bone harden.

However the surgery, which started three months ago, has not been without difficulties.

Anthony recently caught an infection which saw him admitted to hospital.

But despite the setbacks, Anthony has said his progression is “amazing”, a sentiment repeated by his mum, Kerry:
