'Unique and special' airport arrivals building shouldn't be 'obliterated'
Save Jersey Heritage has told ITV News the arrivals building at Jersey Airport is 'special and unique' and shouldn't be demolished.
It's due to be replaced as part of £65m plans to overhaul the area; part of the building dates back to 1937.
Christopher Scholefield, from the group, says it's part of a 'remarkable chapter' in the island's history.
He recalls the Bailiff meeting German officers there in 1940 when the Occupation of the Channel Islands began.
But, airport authorities say the building has to be demolished for safety reasons.
The group had hoped it was going to be refurbished for 'at least a decade of further of enjoyment of it'.
