Jack Butel gets the all clear after Bouley Bay hill climb crash

Jack Butel walked away unscathed from an impressive crash in the season opening hill climb at Bouley Bay.

The young islander still holds the record for the fastest ascent in a kart from when he was just 16.

This time around he was chasing new records in his rally car, when he span out coming up to the notorious Radio corner. The car ended up on it's side but he immediately got out and emergency response crews attended the incident within seconds.

Butel says that crashes are just a reality of Motorsports and praised Normandy rescue teams for reacting so fast.

After a full check up at the General Hospital, Butel was given the all clear by medics. Allowing him to take part in his season opening race this weekend on the legendary Brands Hatch track.

He is now racing in the MSA Formula 4 Championship where he claimed several top 10 results last year. He's looking to improve those positions for the 2016 season, chasing podiums and a top five finish overall.

The rest of the event went on without incident. Changing weather conditions made it difficult for records to fall, James Langlois did set a new time of 58.93 seconds in the Production class 1400 category.

The general consensus from the drivers was that it was good to get back out onto the hill.

The next big event on the hill climb calendar is on May 9 for the Liberation Day Hill Climb.
